extremecoldExtreme cold even though we feel like it’s normal for us since we live in quite frigid areas is bad for your skin and the skin being rich in moisture, it can freeze and crack leading to the condition known as frostbite. Frostbite has the skin and in too extreme situations, even the underlying muscles freezing, effectively killing them resulting in a very painful medical condition. Keep skin covered and if possible, stay indoors and avoid exposure in the first place. Anybody who has had frostbite knows the pain it can cause and the loss of skin that can result. The blackened skin is in fact dead and will have to be taken out to allow healthy skin to grow back if possible. If damage goes in too deep that the re-generative tissue is damaged itself, all damaged tissue is removed to prevent gangrene or tissue rot wherein dead tissue decays releasing toxins into the body as it does. Use lukewarm water and keep hot water off your face and body. Apply moisturizer after showering, while you skin is still damp. The snow has an added ability to damage our skin by reflecting UV rays. Flaxseed Oil

February 20th, 2008 | Category: Home Treatment

Supplement your skin by taking flaxseed oil every day.  It might not be the best tasting stuff in the world but this is a very effective moisturizer for your body that you can only take orally. Besides that, it also has many health benefits because it’s very rich in fatty acids.  Refrigerated flaxseed oil has a more mild, fresh taste than warm oil.  If you don’t like the idea of swallowing one or two tablespoons of the oil every day, you can also buy it in capsule form.  Most health food stores and whole foods stores have both kinds.  Make sure you ask your doctor’s advice before you take any food supplments, especially if you are pregnant.
